We are a passionate, inclusive community using only the finest crafting materials from which every student attending class will make an original craft to take home. We welcome makers of all skill levels to join together in camaraderie to collectively nurture our creative spirits. Our workshops are thoughtfully tailored to teach new skills and create unforgettable experiences designed to inspire the inner-artist in all of us.

In addition to our weekly class schedule, we sell artisan branded “Take and Make” kits for DIY home crafting, a curated assortment of handcrafting tools recommended by The Makery’s instructors, and seasonal home décor. We value product that is authentic, timeless and well designed. Every item we sell has a story. Many of the goods on The Makery’s shelves are made by the very same instructors who teach our classes.
It is in that spirit that we truly hope to become your neighborhood handcrafting space.

Jane Watson has called Mill Valley home for the past 12 years. Now that Jane’s two young boys are both in school, she is returning to her creative roots with the launch of The Makery. Raised in Virginia among a family of artists, craftsmen and entrepreneurs, The Makery celebrates Jane’s professional background in retail with her homespun passion for handmade living.
As Jane began traveling all over the Bay Area to attend handcrafting classes, she discovered she wasn’t the only one searching for ways to connect with others who wanted to make beautiful things by hand. She saw a need in her home community for a space where emerging and distinguished crafters could come together to create. The Makery was born to fill that need in Jane’s own neighborhood.
We hope you’ll join us, and together, learn how to Make It By Hand!
